Increased accessibility to Qeqertalik Plan Portal and Municipal Plan
Qeqertalik Municipal Council wants to provide good opportunities for accessibility to both the Plan Portal and the Municipal Plan.
We want it to be possible for as many people as possible to navigate the plans, regardless of whether they need help having the texts read aloud, getting help with enlarging the text on the screen, or getting help with other accessibility features on a computer or tablet.
Have the text read aloud:
You can have the text read aloud in Greenlandic, Danish and English.
Reading of the text in Greenlandic:
- First, download the voice Martha via the link: http://www.atuffat.gl/Voice_gl.aspx and install it.
- Martha is a synthetic Greenlandic voice that can be used to convert text to speech. Martha is not a speech-to-speech program in itself, but can be used together with speech functions in various programs to read text. For example, you can use the voice together with the speech function in Word or you can use the voice to read in a speech-to-speech program.
- For example, you can download the free speech program Balabolka via the link: http://www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm . Balabolka is a text-to-speech program that can read all computer voices installed on your system. The program can read the contents of the clipboard on your computer. You therefore simply need to select the text you want to have read and copy it to the clipboard. The text can also be saved as a WAV, MP3, MP4, OGG or WMA file for later use as audio files.
Via the link http://www.atuffat.gl/Voice_gl.aspx there is access to downloads and videos for installation:
- Martha for Microsoft Windows.
- Martha for Apple OS X.
- Martha for Apple iOS.
- Martha for Google Android.
- There is also documentation for Martha in Greenlandic, Danish and English.
Reading with Anne - The synthetic Danish voice:
- Anne is a synthetic Danish voice that can be used to convert text to speech. Anne is not a speech-to-speech program in itself, but can be used together with speech functions in various programs to read text. Users in Greenland have the option of downloading a Danish voice for Microsoft Windows. To install the voice, you must be online and located in Greenland. After that, the voice will work even if you take your computer out of the country.
- Instructions for downloading the voice Anne can be found here: http://www.atuffat.gl/Voice_da.aspx .
Reading of the text in Danish:
- Here you can download and install the free remote control via the link: www.adgangforalle.dk. The Adgangforalle.dk remote control is a free program that makes it possible to have a selectable and copyable text read aloud.
- The Adgangforalle.dk remote control is available for:
- Microsoft Windows.
- Linux.
- MacOS.
- Chromebooks.
Reading of the text in English:
- Here you can download the free reading program Balabolka via the link: http://www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm.
- Balabolka is a text-to-speech program that can read all computer voices installed on your system. The program can read the contents of the clipboard on your computer. You simply select the text you want to have read and copy it to the clipboard. The text can also be saved as a WAV, MP3, MP4, OGG or WMA file for later use as audio files.
