Municipal Council in Municipality Qeqertalik approved on 25–26 November 2025 Qeqertalik Municipal Plan 2025–2037. At the same time, a number of Local Plans were adopted.
The municipal plan has been prepared in accordance with Consolidated Act No. 4 of 25 January 2024 on Planning and Land Use and establishes the overall framework for land use in the municipality.
Local Plans are drawn up with detailed local plan provisions, which must be in accordance with the overall framework provisions of the municipal plan. In settlements with 500 inhabitants or more, a local plan is required before the municipality can announce land allocations.
In settlements with fewer than 500 inhabitants, the Municipal Council may decide to prepare Local Plans where infrastructure or use is complex, or where there is a need for more detailed regulation of land use.

- Guidelines for future development of the municipality.
- The overall framework provisions of the municipal plan form the basis for the design of local plans and for the municipality's land allocations, cf. Consolidated Act No. 4 of 2024.
