§ 19 Containers

19.1 Area allocations for containers are given with permanent status if they comply with the provisions of § 19.2-19.12.

These are minimum requirements, and an area allocation can always be applied for to camouflage a container with greater requirements than these minimum requirements.

Sub-areas in cities

19.2 A-areas for housing:

Containers used in residential areas must be painted or clad to appear like a building.

19.3 B-areas for port and commercial purposes:

Containers used as sheds or smaller warehouses in port and commercial areas must be either painted or clad so that they fit into the overall visual appearance of the company. Any storage on top of containers must be placed neatly and secured so securely that it does not pose a danger to traffic in the area.

19.4 C-areas for common purposes:

Containers used in downtown areas must be painted or clad to appear like a building.

19.5 D-areas for recreational facilities and open areas:

Containers that are exceptionally placed in open areas must either be painted in a subdued color so that they are as inconspicuous as possible in the landscape or camouflaged with cladding so that they appear as sheds.

19.6 E Special technical application:

Containers used as sheds or smaller warehouses in port and commercial areas must be either painted or clad so that they fit into the overall visual appearance of the company. Any storage on top of containers must be placed neatly and secured so securely that it does not pose a danger to traffic in the area.

The sub-areas in the settlements

19.7 The same provisions apply to all sub-area categories in the settlements.

Containers used as sheds or small storage buildings in the settlements must be either painted or covered so that they fit into the overall visual appearance of the settlement. Any storage on top of containers must be placed neatly and secured so securely that it does not pose a danger to traffic in the area.

The sub-areas in the open country

19.8 K-Areas for holiday cottages and summer houses, etc.:

Containers can only be set up in cabin areas in exceptional cases and must either be painted in a subdued color so that they are as inconspicuous as possible in the landscape or camouflaged with coverings so that they appear as sheds.

19.9 L-areas of special recreational character:

Containers can only be set up exceptionally in areas with a special recreational character and must either be painted in a subdued color so that they are as inconspicuous as possible in the landscape or camouflaged with coverings so that they appear as sheds.

19.10 M-areas designated for sheep farms, agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, dog islands, etc.:

Containers used as sheds or small warehouses in these areas must either be painted or clad so that they fit into the overall visual appearance of the company.

19.11 N-areas for technical and infrastructure etc.:
Containers used as sheds or smaller warehouses in these areas must either be painted or covered so that they fit into the overall visual appearance of the company. Any storage on top of containers must be placed neatly and secured so securely that it does not pose a danger to traffic in the area.

19.12 O-areas that are kept clear
Containers may not be placed in clear areas in the open countryside.

19.13 Dog kennels
Small containers used as sheds at dog kennels must be painted in a subdued color so that they are as inconspicuous as possible in the landscape or camouflaged with clothing so that they appear as sheds.

19.14 Building Regulations
Containers used as buildings or building parts must comply with the requirements of the Greenland Building Regulations.
